Boston

6/27/01

Over a week since an update, but I have a few minutes free here in Boston, so I'll take a crack at it.

The last week has been exceptionally busy. Last Thurs. and Fri. were the final nights for the human development workshop I've been assisting with for the last two months. What a wonderful thing to do! The people were glowing. The sense of love in the room was so thick you could cut it with a knife. The ice maiden had become a beautiful warm and very enthusiastic person, giving everyone hugs. Several of the stiff uptight men were wiping away tears as they thanked everyone for their support. A couple of thirtysomething little girls stood tall as the women they had become in a short couple of months. I am so proud of them, their courage and love!

And the leaders said such nice things about me. That I just took and accepted. It was wonderful. I'd be ready to start another session tomorrow! Instead, it will probably be early next year...

Then early early on Sat. AM it was off to the airport to fly to Boston. Sam and I were teaching our stuff for two days. Lots of old friends. On Sun, it was rainy here, and I was totally wiped out, so I took it easy. Mon. and Tues. we taught--went very well. The economy meant the class was smaller than we had been used to, but it was very lively and we had a lot of interaction with the class.

And today I visited a company I had worked for about 6 years ago that is based in the Boston area. It looks like I will be able to pick up some work from them to make ends meet while the market is so ghastly. It was a nice change of pace and fun to catch up with the people there...

And the publisher that is our first choice for Sam and my book, after appearing to "cool off", expressed interest again. Bravo! I talk to another one tomorrow...

On Fri., I take a plane back to San Francisco, and on to Los Angeles. I'll join Diana and her two kids who are at a workshop that runs all week. Then Sun. afternoon I'll help her drive home from L.A. Next week looks more quiet...

It was a funny experience giving talks of the material that we had reworked so completely in the book. It was almost like double vision--we kept getting confused about what was where and unsure about what was coming next. I can see that we will do a pretty total revision of the talks now that the book is in draft form--we are much happier with the order and sequence of topics in the book than the order we had been using for the talks. Our momentary confusions, however, were more than made up for by the increased depth we brought to the material. I hope.

In any case, tomorrow (Thurs) looks to be less intense, and I intend to relax and enjoy it before several more difficult days. I'll update early next week, if not before...

Thank you for reading.
